It may be easier to figure out how to draw your sculpture if you photograph it first. Which parts of your sculpture are even with the horizon line? Print out the patterns of other geometric three dimensional forms, such as tetrahedrons, cylinders, cones and pyramids. Once you know the basics of perspective drawing you can have all sorts of fun and create amazing artwork. The video below shows how to use a triangle to draw a box in one point perspective. Architects and carpenters use a tool called a triangle to help them with perspective drawing. Another trick is to use the 90 degree corner of a separate piece of paper as a guide. One trick is to line up one side of your ruler with the front of the box and use the other side of your ruler to draw the back of your box. ![]() There are several tricks and tips that you can use to make sure the back of your box is parallel to the front of the box. ![]() No work will be accepted if any part is done incorrectly. If they are not parallel you must erase and redo them. You will need to make sure that the sides of each box in the back are parallel to the sides in the front. You will only be given credit if the lines go from the corners of the boxes to the vanishing point. You will not be given credit for this assignment if the lines are not drawn with a ruler. The vanishing point represents a point infinitely far away. Simply begin by drawing the closest side of any geometric object and connect its corners to a single vanishing point. One point perspective is a type of linear perspective drawing that uses a single vanishing point to create the illusion of depth in an artist’s drawing. In reality, of course, there are always objects which won't be lined up perfectly. So if it's a road, it goes straight away from us, or if it is a house, one wall goes straight across in front of us, not sloping. At the same time, the set at right-angles goes out to infinity on each side. To draw using one-point perspective, we arrange our view of the subject so that one set of visible lines has a vanishing point right in front of us. These lines meet at a vanishing point in the middle distance of the picture. In contrast, the lines moving away from us appear to get closer together as they get more distant. These lines will always stay the same distance apart and never meet each other. If they were longer, they'd keep going straight across, or straight up and down. All of the lines that are parallel to the horizon (at right angles to the direction of our gaze) such as the railway sleepers and fence posts-go straight across or straight up and down. This means that the sides of a road or the sides of a door can both be thought of as pairs of parallel lines. Remember from math class that parallel means running side-by-side, the same distance apart. The first thing you need to know is that in perspective drawing every set of parallel lines has its own vanishing point.
